Laila
2024
Acrylic plaster. 110 x 145 x 5 cm.
A series of wall-mounted sculptures made from casts of workshop surfaces in Laila Landøy's quarry production facilities in Værlandet, an island on the Norwegian west coast. The pieces bear traces of machines, work processes and things Laila has made using the sedimentary rocks breccia and conglomerate, unique in their kind to this area.
The piece was made with support by Bergen Kommune and the Art Nouveau Centre & the Art Museum KUBE in Ålesund, where it was first presented as part of the exhibition "The Tragedy of The Commons", an exhibition curated by Solfrid Otterholm.
