    Månen, dropen og diamanten

4 railings, Terningmoen Camp, Elverum, KORO 2026
Powder-coated and wet-painted steel with glass
    1 x 4 m per railing

Four railings installed on the gable walls of a new officers’ quarters at Terningmoen Camp in Elverum, currently under expansion to increase the capacity of military recruit training. The pattern in the railings is created by overlapping contour lines of elements from both civilian and military contexts, pointing to the overlap of these spheres and identities that recruits encounter when beginning their compulsory military service. The railing motif also references fences and boundaries more broadly: the perimeter of the camp, the division between military and civilian life, national borders that the armed forces are tasked with protecting, and the boundaries that recruits are expected to cross.

  • Granerudsjøen Milepel

    2024

    Replikator-verksted

    2023

The Replicator Workshop was a three day workshop developed and led by Magnhild Øen Nordahl and Gabriele de Seta. In the workshop we tested out emerging methods for generating 3D models using a selection of recently developed, early stage AI webtools such as 3DFY, Alpha3D, MasterpieceX, Meshcapade and Shap-E. Trying to understand how generative AI can be used to produce physical objects in the near future we followed a learning by doing approach, as well as a learning from each other approach, together with the participating artists Andreas Zissler, Silver Carlsson and Funda Zeynep Agüler.

A selection of the models were 3D printed, CNC milled and cast in acrylic plaster, and the workshop results were presented in a talk during the core days of Bergen Center for Electronic Art’s symposium The Only Lasting Truth is Change in fall 2023.

  • Månen, dropen og diamanten

    Månen, dropen og diamanten

Series of 9 low reliefs, 2026
    Acrylic plaster
    43 x 43 x 43 cm

Svimmel måne is a series of cast reliefs in which circles and semicircles are filled with a fluid mass. In some areas, the material remains contained within the geometric boundaries; in others, it fully occupies the forms, while elsewhere it overflows and breaks with the structure. The work explores tensions between abstraction and phenomenon, the fluid and the fixed, control and unpredictability. It reflects on the relationship between artistic formal abstraction and scientific abstraction, where systems of order meet dynamic, shifting matter. At the same time, the series evokes a kind of landscape painting, drawing on both what can be seen and what cannot be directly perceived, such as the movement of water masses shaped by lunar forces, and the muted tones of the sea under overcast skies or the colours of the night sky.

The panels are cut at an angle of 7 degrees and they lean out from the back wall with a spacing of 7 degrees between each subsequent panel. The installation was created for a movable wall in the Tin Sheds Gallery in Sydney and shown as part of the affiliate program of the Sydney Biennale in 2012. It was later adapted to the exhibition This House curated by Anthea Buys as part of Nouvelles Vagues at Palais de Tokyo in 2014.
